Finding the campground: Take exit 289 on Florida's Turnpike and drive north on US 27 for about 15 miles. Past Leesburg, the park entrance is on the right (east).
About the campground: Although the park does not abut the lake for which it is named, it does connect to it with a boat ramp and lake access via a canal to the Dead River. Established around the river, this park has plenty of boating, fishing, and canoeing. Picnicking, walking the 0.5-mile nature trail, and simple relaxing are quite popular here. The full-facility campground is washed with shade and canoe rentals are available. Because of a healthy alligator population, no swimming is allowed. Driving to theme parks is easy from this beautiful state park.
